It’s been way too long since I’ve posted on the blog. Lots of changes have happened at 520 East Brands and while that’s all been going on, there’s been very little time to write about it.

Of course, most of the complaints I get are that I’ve been neglecting my other blog, Up at 5. Although I am still getting up at 5 and putting in a full day, I just haven’t had the time to tell you about it. One of these days, I’ll get back to it. For now, though, I’m focused on the changes in my company, and in my homelife. Since I last wrote, my husband has started an MBA program. So each Saturday, in addition to his crazy work schedule, we don’t see him. When he walks through the door Saturday evening, I literally bombard him with questions wanting to know everything he learned about strategy and marketing that day. It’s a challenge for our family, for sure, but just takes some planning.

Meanwhile, in the business, I’ve made a huge change. I began my business as a product rep. I quickly learned that my skills are not in face-to-face product sales, and I brought on several other reps. Over time, each rep had to find her way into her next career move and finally, I had to let the repping part of my business go. The social media marketing side has taken off and keeps me so busy – and I love it. But holding those repping territories and not being able to come through for the clients wasn’t working for my business. Every CEO needs to know their own shortfalls and strengths and determine their next steps. And that’s what I’ve done.

So mine is to continue as a marketer – behind the keyboard. I’m still working hand-in-hand with Itzy Ritzy, managing their school fundraising program. But aside from that, you can find me online pretty much all day. Facebook and Twitter keep me pretty busy, but I use other tools as well.

There are a lot of blogs out there that speak to the social media savvy about techniques and tips – but what about the laymen? What about the people who are still hesitant to join Twitter, to post a Facebook status? What about the people who want to set up a Facebook page for their company? I hope to help those people along – and show them how to join the conversation – through this blog.
